Experience has shown me how to condense exercises, so that each session is as efficient and effective as possible.

The pitfall of many workout programmes is that they feature unnecessary, time-wasting exercises, which fail to produce results. I try to avoid this trap by ‘exercising economy’ when creating fitness training programmmes. This term is coined from Gray Cook, an American physiotherapist whose work I respect. I understand why many people with sedentary lives do not enjoy exercise; it can be uncomfortable, time consuming and boring.

It’s unfortunate that when these individuals start experimenting with exercise, their choices unwittingly guarantee an experience that’s ten times worse than necessary. They do this by undertraining or overtraining.

Inevitably, the cost of personal training gets compared to the cost of gym membership.

I respond that the comparison is apples and oranges. But as a point of interest and to ensure our service is competitively priced for the London fitness market, I telephoned a dozen local gyms today. I established the cost of their full annual memberships, including joining fees, and compared this with the cost of our personal training service.
